The victim's public name (not real name for her protection) is Esparanza.
In Spanish, Esparanza means hope.

Since the tragedy (see the post below under "Is it a Crime to be Deaf?") occurred in Alvin, Texas, which is within Brazoria County, an emergency meeting was called on May 2, and over 70 Deaf/HH community members and supporters showed. This ended up creating a protest organization called "Communication Access Now" (C.A.N.). May 24 at 1pm for the protest at Brazoria County courthouse was set.

Hello everyone,this is esparanaza, i want tell you of story happen in jail alvin , i been arngy and not pay attention to hearning not easy without interpreter cause, they aint listen to communcation explain happen to deaf however they re problem involved, i have allright complain to them , i cant beleive that polices alway create add written report no prove to interpreter since i dont know what going on without interpreter jail since 2006 &2007 however i rememember last year six ago , i knew they did treat on me get outclothes without perrimission then older male officer did touch my prative and he use gloves blue however one female officer did hold my arms too her knee on my back that how treat and looking and laugh on deaf however three males officer very adactivce and prev bad persons but i aint comfortablethem . I tell them many time ask interpreter that i tried to written and bring interpreter prove or refused . I dont understand get six arrest time past that their responsibility not call prove to interpreter and disrespecting to inslut to deaf communcation person.matter but i been pressure how to turthful god power deaf .i notice they re written report get win however i will fix my homework written cause they did hurt me and treat everything called assumably,tease,interesting embarrased to them no excuse!!! They not have as certiticate to sign lanangue officers . However i `m innocoent no danger and bad person . My brother always abuse physical to me since, he very crazy and drunk and drug easy anger kill hiself hurt that i called reason. Its not wrestle is my brother and i just aruge and hit me . However poloces arrive, my mother wake up recenty talk me get out kick me out get me go jail not enough my mom make igrone to me during sign lanague wrong.polices did put me handcuffed ahead jail there no interpreter ! I know that problem suffer hearnong like blame cancel on deaf but I want be fair in world texas must interpreter with police points.i have suppose to jobs how i would get lawyer soon i dont want heard side their story . I want remove my felony that i still depressed want to else to remove now but i really sick of them and dont gave forgive them ! I try best away get from trouble since i learn lesson more understood
